Kano govt marks multi billion naira structures on BUK road for demolition

Kano State demolition taskforce team on Friday landed on BUK road from Dan’agundi junction to Dukawuya by WTC junction where multi billion naira buildings were marked for demolition.

According to the state government, the structure described as ‘’illegal buildings’’ were marked ‘’Remove KNUPDA 23/6/2023’’

The governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has said at several fora that the structures are illegal as they were built on old Kano city wall which the present administration plans to restore.

SOLACEBASE reports that some of the buildings marked for demolition include petrol filling stations, shopping malls, car marts, event centres and sporting complex among others.

The structures are that of SALBAS oil and gas ltd, Matrix gas station, Matrix petrol station, Amna gas station, Double Twins event centre among others.

It could be recalled that the state government recently said debris from the ongoing demolition exercise would be utilize for the reconstruction of the old city walls.

Since the inauguration of Abba Kabir Yusuf as Kano State Governor, on May 29th, 2023, several buildings marked illegal structures have been demolished or marked for demolition.

Among such buildings are, three storey building with 90 shops on race course road in GRA, Daula Hotel building, monument roundabout in-front of government house, shops by eid praying ground, houses around Salanta quarters by Kano Poly, shops on IBB way and shops around some schools in the metropolis.
