Kano state government has apprehended 63 Traditional Medicine Vendors that violates the law banning the use of vulgar words in advertising their products in the metropolis.
The Executive Secretary, Kano state Private Health Institutions Management Agency PHIMA, Dr Usman Tijjani Aliyu announced this on Thursday, shortly after the PHIMA task force team leader, Isa Isyaku briefed him of the situation at the agency office.
He said those arrested have been sanctioned appropriately with fines and seizure of the instruments used in committing the offence and warned to desist from such acts.
Dr Usman Tijjani Aliyu who said the arrest was made within a week, said the effort is not to witch-hunt anybody but to sanitize the activities of the traditional medicine vendors so as to ensure decorum and decency in the marketing of traditional medicines in public places.
‘’Honestly, the government is not out to witch –hunt or stop anybody from earning a living, but rather it should be done with all sense of responsibility,’’ said Dr Usman Tijjani Aliyu.

Solacebase reports that since the commencement of the exercise, violators were arrested at Gyadi-Gyadi/Court road, ‘Yan Kaba Bus Stop, Janguza Market, Kofar Ruwa, Katsina road, ‘Yan Kura, Bata Alfurkan, Fagge and Sharada Jaen Jum’ at mosques.
While others were apprehended along Sabon Titi, Western by Pass, Gurin Gawa quarters, Zoo road and among other areas.
The Executive Secretary noted that some of the violators are already facing prosecution
Earlier, PHIMA Task Force Team Leader Isa Isyaku said the exercise is continuous as the committee works daily including weekends.
