Kano Shuts Illegal Traditional Health Center

Kano State Government on Wednesday shut an illegal traditional health center operating in the state.

The Private Health Institutions Management Agency, under the state ministry of Health in a joint operation with the state Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission carried out the operations.

A statement issued by the state ministry of health public relations officer, Ismail Garba Gwammaja on Wednesday and obtained by Solacebase said the traditional health center, was operating illegally on Maiduguri road, an outskirts area of the metropolis.

The statement said the Executive Secretary Private health institutions management agency, (PHIMA) Dr. Usman Tijjani Aliyu noted that the center belongs to Alhaji Yahaya Ali Ciroman Sarkin Mayu, who claims to be a spiritual healer in virtually all the ailment.

‘’During the raid, we discovered many patients some on admission some are outpatient with distinct illnesses ranging from medical, Surgical and Gynecology among other issues were found on admission in the illegal traditional health center,’’ said the Executive Secretary.

It said Dr. Usman further pointed out that after a thorough search and investigation by the staff of the agency and that of the public complaints and anti-corruption commission headed by Barr. Muhiyi Magaji Rimin Gado, the patients were carefully referred to the appropriate area for better diagnoses and medication purposes.

The statement added that already the suspect, the owner of the center has been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution

It then appealed to residents to desist from patronizing such illegal hide operation centers called traditional healers, but rather patronize government recognized health facilities whenever they are sick for appropriate Care and attention
