Kano slashes March salaries of political office holders

2

Kano state government says it has slashed the salaries of political office holders in the state by 50 per cent for the month of March due to dwindling resources.

A statement issued on Tuesday by the state commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, said the action was due to a shortfall in the revenue accruing to the state from the federation account.

Solacebase recalls that the state government had said it cannot pay the N30,000 minimum wage in the month of March due to fall in the monthly federal allocation.

‘’The decision affected the governor, deputy governor and all public office holders in the state that included all commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants among others, ‘’said the statement.
