Kano to train traditional bone setters

Kano State Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) has urged traditional bone setters to register with the agency so as to sanitize their activities in line with global best practice

The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr Usman Tijjani Aliyu stated this on Thursday when he received the leadership of Achika Traditional Bone setters association, Wudil local government area, in his office.

Dr Aliyu said the practitioners have a lot to benefit from the government when they are registered as this would afford the government the opportunity to have their data and collaborate with them with the provision of modern training on traditional bone setting and sanitize their activities.

He said the registration of the traditional bone setters is inline with the Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje led administration of ensuring that residents have access to qualitative health care services devoid of patronizing quacks.

‘’When the government have data of your members when you are registered with the agency, most of the challenges bedevilling your operations would be address and the government would then be aware of what can be done to modernize your practice in terms of training and other support needed so that the lives of the residents and those that patronize you would not be in danger,’’ said the Executive Secretary.

On his part, the Association Chairman, Alh Sani Idris while appreciating the reception said they were at the agency to familiarize themselves with the organization and seek an area of collaboration.

Alhaji Idris who said that their Achika Traditional Bone setters Association, is of the Wudil branch, promised to discuss with the state body of bone setters association so as to register and partner with the agency.
