Karaye Emirate suspends traditional leader over illegal sale of lands

Karaye Emirate has suspended the village Head of Butu- Butu in Rimin Gado local government area of Kano State,  Abdullahi Sa’adu.

Solacebase reports that the Village Head was suspended for allegedly illegally selling land to immigrant Fulanis and spearheading the construction of a mosque without following due process of mosque construction which at the end of which led to conflicts and disunity among the people.

A statement issued by Karaye Emirate Council Information Officer Haruna Gunduwawa, on Friday and sent to Solacebase said the suspension of the Village Head is to pave way for the investigation to be carried out by a committee set up to look into the allegations against the traditional ruler.

Recalls that, the District Head and the Magajin Rafi Alhaji Auwalu Ahmad Tukur wrote to the Emir of Karaye Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar II reporting the misdeeds of the Village Head some few months back.

‘’The report noted that the village Head was warned not to engage in the acts by both District Head office and Rimin Gado local government, but went ahead with impunity,’’ said the statement.

‘’After reading the report at the palace sitting, the Emir directed a senior Councillor Engr. Shehu Ahmed to investigate the matter.’’

‘’In the course of investigating the matter, the senior Councillor wrote to the District Head of Rimin Gado to produce evidence that would support the claims.’’

‘’While an investigation is ongoing, the Emirate posted Madakin Shamaki, Malam Habibu Umar to oversee the village pending the outcome of the investigation. ‘’

‘’The Emirate is, therefore, appealing residents of the Butu- Butu to remain calm and give Malam  Habibu Umar the support and cooperation to discharge his duty effectively.’’
