Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), is to commence confiscation of unregistered tricycle operating in the state from Thursday, January 30.
KAROTA Managing Director, Alhaji Baffa Dan’agundi announce this on Monday saying that the ongoing mandatory registration for tricycle operators in the state will close on Wednesday night.
A statement issued by the Agency Public Relations Officer, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa and obtained by Solacebase said the decision was made on Monday after a meeting with the various Chairmen of the Tricycle operators unions which marks the end of the grace period given to those who were not captured during the first exercise and those who refused to enrol to do so.

Solacebase reports that the total package of the registration cost, N24,000, with a breakdown of Permit and tracker registration costing N8,000 while annual revenue payment is N16,000 by each operator.
The statement said Baffa Dan’agundi warns that the agency would spare no one caught without clearance operating in the state after the stipulated period of time.
‘’Anyone caught operating without registration would be treated as a criminal with an ulterior motive to create problem in the state,’’ said the statement.
The Managing Director, according to the statement said that anyone who defies the law will forfeit such tricycle.
