KEDCO gives HSE training to staff to improve safety in Kano franchise

Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) says it has given 3-day health, safety and environment training to its technical and safety champion staff across its franchise area.

According to the Management of the company, the refresher training is to improve the overall safety of staff, third party as well as safeguarding KEDCO installations, while enhancing KEDCO’s operational structure.

A statement issued by Head, Corporate Communications, KEDCO Ibrahim Sani Shawai, on Sunday said the training which centres on discussion on immediate and root causes of recent accidents with recommendations to avoid future occurrence, electrical safety and other hazards analysis, is based on the job roles as well as how to address the peculiarities in risk exposures.

‘’In the course of the training, presentations on the new HSE structure, HSE policy, Performance review, HSE Guidelines and updates on NEMSA and NERC were made to keep staff abreast with the current demands of safety as it concerns power distribution, ‘’said the statement.

‘’The training also considered environment-focused safety rules with regard to safeguarding and protection of lives and properties in a very difficult environment where violation of Right of Way and other encroachment on our installations is on the increase.’’

‘’While assuring customers that KEDCO will continually devise strategies to ensure the protection of lives and properties in Kano franchise, we call on customers to remain vigilant to prevent accidents at home while reporting faults to KEDCO for prompt actions.’’
