KUST Increases Registration Fees , Accommodation , Other Charges

The Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil has reviewed Registration fees and charges upwards.

The university said the decision was adopted by the Senate at its 93^rd meeting held on Wednesday, February, 26^th.

A statement issued by the University Deputy Registrar, Sa’idu Abdullahi Nayaya on Wednesday and obtained by Solacebase said the purpose is to harmonize the charges in the University with what obtains in other Public Universities in the Country.

Solacebase recalled that the branch Academic Staff Union of Universities had last issued ultimatum to embark on strike among other issues was the plan to increase the registration fees for undergraduate students noting that despite lack of accountability in the funds generated in previous students’ registration exercise as externally audited financial reports were not presented before the university council over the years.

‘’Returning Kano State Students will now pay Thirty Thousand Eight Hundred (N 30,800.00) and fresh students Thirty Three Thousand Five Hundred (N 33,500.00), as against the Twenty One Thousand Five Hundred (N 21,500.00) and Twenty Three Thousand Two Hundred (N 23,200.00), they were paying before, ‘’said the statement.

According to the statement, ‘’Non-indigenes and Foreign Students are to pay Forty-Four Thousand Eight Hundred (N 44,800.00) and Ninety-Six Thousand Naira (N 96,000.00) Tuition fees, respectively. This is in addition to the normal registration fees and charges of the University.’’

In the same vein, the Senate has reviewed upwards, its fees and charges on Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), Student Work Experience Program (SWEP), Field Courses and Trips.

The Accommodation charges have also been reviewed from Five Thousand Ninety Naira (N 5,090.00) to Ten Thousand Ninety Naira (N10,090.00), per session.
