Former Kano state governor and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on Saturday night visited former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at his residence in Abuja.
What the duo actually discussed could not be immediately ascertained, but the visit was confirmed by the former vice president’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe.
The Senator representing Kano Central Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso arrived at about 8:30 p.m. at Atiku Abubakar’s home in Asokoro district of Abuja.
Those close to the senator said he only went to pay a homage to Atiku Abubakar because the top politician was not in the country during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations last weekend.
Atiku Abubakar, a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, is eyeing his party’s presidential ticket for 2019.
He defected from the APC in August 2017, alleging marginalisation and maladministration against the ruling party.
Rabiu Kwankwaso has been locked in a fierce political confrontation with the current Kano state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. Over the past two years, several attacks and reprisal attacks between the supporters of the two politicians have been reported.
Mr Ibe said there was no need to speculate beyond the affirmation that the two met for 45 minutes.
