Maitama Sule University, Kano matriculates 4,785 students

Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, has matriculated 4,785 students for the 2019/2020 academic session.

Mr Abba Abdullahi-Hassan, its Public Relations Officer, indicated this in a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday in Kano.

He said that the matriculation ceremony took place on Feb. 10, at the City Campus of the University under strict compliance to COVID-19 Protocols.

Abdullahi-Hassan said that the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the University, Prof. Mukhtar Atiku-Kurawa, during the event, called on the new students to concentrate on their studies with a view to achieving academic excellence.

“It is my strong belief and conviction that if you remain steadfast, work very hard and study diligently, only success awaits you.

“Therefore, I implore you to shun any form of misconduct, particularly examination malpractices, drug abuse and immoral/indecent dressing as well as other negative practices.

“The University has stringent rules to take care of any erring student who does not heed to this warning. The University degree is awarded based on character and learning,” Abdullahi-Hassan quoted the VC as saying.

He added that the VC further congratulated the new students for the wonderful achievement by getting admitted into the university.

According to him, admission into the University is always open to all qualified applicants irrespective of tribe, gender, race or religion.

According to the statement, the VC said the university vision was to be a world-class citadel of learning that provides practical education directed towards the training of highly knowledgeable, skilled and disciplined citizens.

Atiku-Kurawa, in the statement, restated his administration’s determination in providing a conducive learning environment for all students by striving to ensure that all facilities and support services are provided to facilitate teaching and learning in all the campuses of the university.

He further urged the new students to always remember the oath taken during the matriculation ceremony. (NAN)
