Monarch lauds FG plan to establish free trade zone in Funtua, Katsina

The Kanwan Katsina, District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara has commended the Federal Government for establishing a free trade zone in the Funtua local government of Katsina state.

Alhaji Kankara gave the commendation when he hosted the Managing Director of Nigeria Export Processing Zone Agency NEPZA and his entourage to a dinner at his private residence in Katsina.

Solacebase reports that NEPZA MD who was on an official visit to Katsina to interact with the state government on arrangement for the take-off of the Funtua free trade zone was a nineteen eighty-two coursemate of Kanwan Katsina in the Nigeria Customs Service.

The Traditional Ruler said establishing the free trade zone will boost socio-economic activities of people and provide job opportunity to teeming youths of the state.

He used the occasion to advise the MD to strengthen the legal framework both at the state and Federal Government level to ensure continuity and sustainability of the project.

Responding, the Managing Director, Nigeria Export Processing Zone Agency Professor Adesoji Adesogba express delight for the warm reception accorded to him and his entourage by his former colleague in the Nigeria customs service.

He said there are two projects slated for Katsina state which include the Funtua free trade zone and the Katsina medical tourism park.

The Managing Director said that the NEPZA team has interacted with the Katsina state government team on the take-off of the Funtua free trade zone and land has already been provided for the project.

Professor Adesoji Adesogba who was happy to be in Katsina for the second time said he had served as the officer-in-charge of the Federal Operation Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service during his career with the customs Service in the state.
