NDLEA arraign man over alleged possession of indian hemp

A 37-year-old man, Francis Suru, was on Monday charged before a Federal High Court in Lagos for allegedly having 2.1kg of Indian Hemp, a banned psychotropic substance.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, is being prosecuted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for alleged conspiracy and unlawful possession of narcotics.

The Prosecutor, Mrs N.J Mamza told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 12, 2023, on Victoria Island, Lagos.

Mamza said that the offence contravened Sections 11(c) and 14(b) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Law of the Federation, 2004.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Justice Isaac Dipeolu adjourned the case until March 6 for trial.
