Nigerian attacker Chukwudi Igbokwe joins Portuguese club

Nigerian attacker Chukwudi Igbokwe has joined Portuguese club Rio Ave as a free agent.

The Portuguese side announced the signing on their website.

The statement read; “Rio Ave Futebol Clube – Futebol, SAD reached an agreement with Chukwudi Igbokwe to sign a contract valid until June 2026.

“The 22-year-old Nigerian forward trained this Wednesday under coach Luís Freire, at the Rio Ave FC Stadium.

“Last season, Chukwudi played for KAA Gent in Belgium.”

While playing for his country, Chukwudi played for the Nigeria U-23 team.

The attacker has featured for KAA Gent, as he played for the B team in the 2022/23 league season and scored 12 goals in 31 games.

In the 2023/24 league campaign, he managed four goals in 22 appearances for Gent.
