Nigerian Political System Still In Learning Process – Senator Shekarau

Former Kano state governor and currently senator representing Kano central, Ibrahim Shekarau has stated that the Nigerian political system processes is still under a learning trend.

Senator Ibrahim Shekarau made this known during a popular FRCN Kaduna’s radio program ‘Hannu dayawa’ on Saturday.

According to the senator, the Nigerian political system just like other world developed countries political systems is still battling with issues and counter issues adding that with time the system will surely be addressing the issues in due course.

Senator Shekarau also attributed some of the problems related to electioneering processes to poor turnout of voters during elections stressing that there is a strong need for proper sensitization for the electorate to understand the positive aspect of participating in the electioneering processes.

“It is indeed worrisome to see that out of the over 82 million registered voters only about 15 to 16 million voters participated in the voting. One will definitely be surprised by the development and will surely keep asking where the rest registered voters are. This is not the fault of INEC nor was it the fault of the government. I believe with more sensitization that involves all stakeholders, we will be able to solve this issue,” said Shekarau.

The senator also called on the need for additional police personnel in the nation stressing that with over 200 million populations and with less than 400, 000 police officers there is a need for additional officers to ensure credible elections in the nation.
