The chairman Kano Concerned Citizens Initiative (KCCI), Alhaji Bashir Othman Tofa has revealed that a recent survey shows that over 70% of Kano state economic activities are being conducted by non-indigene of the state.
BashirTofa made this known on Saturday during a maiden edition of Kano Unity Summit organized by KCCI held in the state. According to him, for the state’s socio-economic growth to be realistic, there is a need for all hands to be on deck through a unified medium in addressing the issues.
“Time for sleeping and expect things to go positively has passed, this is a time for all well-meaning Kano personalities wherever they are to come together and join hands in solving the social, economic and political problems the state is facing. This is why we have invited over 16 Kano based association to this summit to discuss the way forward,” said Tofa.

Similarly, in his goodwill message Kano state elder statesman Alhaji Bello Isa Bayero called on all participants to do away with personal sentiment, nepotism, envy and other forms of differences so as to wholeheartedly focus on ways to restore Kano’s lost glory in all its ramifications.
However, speaking on behalf of Kano Foundation, Alhaji Sai’ du Zakari Garun Babba highlighted the need for cooperation and unity among all Kano citizens as a pillar in achieving a better Kano for the future generation to enjoy.
According to him with the history of Kano foundation, it is apparent that whatever will bring back the state’s pride and respect in the eyes of the nation and the world, the foundation will always be in total support of that move.
