A university Don, Professor Nazifi Abdullahi Darman has expressed deep concern over the alarming increase of Poverty, drugs abuse, rape and other criminal acts in the Northern region.
Professor Nazifi Abdullahi Darma a lecturer from Department of Economics, University of Abuja stated this at an organised summit for inaugural Local government chapters of Leadership enlightenment and Advocacy for development initiative also known as Kano LEADS in Kano on Sunday.
Prof.Darma who is one of the founders of Kano Leads is advocating education for all, noting that he believes it is the ‘silver bullet’ to eradicating poverty in Nigeria.
He added that the major fundamental causes of all forms of poverty are lack of education and access to knowledge.

In her speech during the inauguration, the NGO Chief servant, Hajiya Aisha Dan Kani, said the meeting was specifically for local governments to have elites at the local level to own the project which will be easier for transmitting messages and engage them in Kano development and Nigerian at large.
She also decries the backwardness in the region educational development and health care management.
