NUJ honors Katsina District Head

The Katsina State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has organized a Lecture in memory of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto.

The Lecture, which was an annual event, attracted various dignitaries and personalities from within and outside Katsina State.

Highlights of the event was the presentation of an award of honor to the Kanwan Katsina, District Head of Ketare Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara mni for his contribution to the development of the journalism profession.

The Katsina State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists described Kanwan Katsina who is one of the patrons as a prominent traditional ruler who contributed immensely to the development of the journalism profession in the Katsina State and beyond.

Receiving the award, which is the first of its kind, the monarch thanked the members of the fourth estate of the realm for identifying with him in such an event of remembrance of the late premier of northern Nigeria Sir Ahmadu Bello, and Sardauna of Sokoto.

As a Former News Reporter with Federal Radio Corporation Nigeria (FRCN) Kaduna and Former Customs Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara mni assured of a continued partnership between the office of the District Head of Ketare and the Media in propagating Government policies and programs, especially at the grassroots.

Earlier in a welcome address, the NUJ Katsina State Council Chairman Comrade Tukur Hassan Dan Ali said the annual event was organized to celebrate the Late Premier of Northern Nigeria Sir Ahmadu Bello, and all those who follow in his footsteps in the development of the North and Humanity in general.

At the event themed “The North Should Rise Again” papers were presented by different scholars and the achievements of the late Sardauna were highlighted and eulogied.
