Kano: PDP governorship candidature tussle, court adjourns for judgement

A Federal High Court sitting in Kano and presided by Justice Aminu M. Liman, has set aside 19 December 2022 for ruling in an appeal court judgement secured by Kano PDP governorship candidate, Sadiq Wali against a case filed by Jafar Sani Bello seeking Sadiq Wali to be joined as a party in the suit.

SOLACEBASE reports that Jafar Sani Bello had dragged Muhammad Abacha, PDP and INEC to court seeking disqualification of Muhammad Abacha from the governorship race of the PDP on the ground that Muhammad was not a member of the party.

Hence with the recognition of Sadiq Wali as the party flag bearer in the 2023 governorship election, Jafar sought to join Sadiq Wali in the suit which was okayed by the federal high court.

Thereafter, Sadiq Wali appealed the ruling which the appeal court upheld last week.

Justice Liman said the court of appeal in its judgement last week ruled that the federal high court lack Jurisdiction in the matter and as such Sadiq Wali should not be joined in the suit.

The judge said the appeal court judgement needed to be studied as he got the records yesterday.

Earlier, the case and another suit by Muhammad Abacha against Sadiq Wali asking to be declared governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2023 general election were set for judgment today, Thursday

In an originating summon, Alhaji Muhammad Abacha is praying the court to declare him winner of the primary election conducted by Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Kano, having satisfied with the requirements of the  Electoral Act 2022 (as amended) and scored the highest number of the total votes cast in the election held on 25th May, 2022.

However, the court , adjourned the two matters for ruling to December, 19, 2022.
