The Kano Civil Society Forum has expressed support for the planned nationwide strike set to commence on Monday over increase in pump price of petrol and electricity tariff.
The forum similarly said it has resolved to join the protest organized by organised labour nationwide from Monday, Sept. 28th.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by its President Ibrahim Waiya and Public Relations Officer, MK Adam on Sunday and sent to Solacebase.
Solacebase reports that Kano Civil Society Forum (KCSF), an umbrella body of over 180 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) operating in Kano State declared its position 2 weeks ago by condemning the recent increment of electricity and fuel prices.
According to the statement ,’’The KCSF wishes to further express its dismay on these anti- people policy of the Federal Government coming at a time when most Nigerians are struggling to survive after Months of covid-19 lock down.

‘’The KCSF strongly believes that such increase would further worsen the already deteriorating living conditions of Nigerians and therefore call on the Federal Government to device the means of providing reasonable palliatives to its citizens to cushion the devastating effects of the global covid-19 pandemic, rather than creating more hardships to its citizens.’’
‘’Consequently, after wide consultations, KCSF here by declares its support to the organized labour groups and Unions on the planned nationwide strike starting from Monday 28th September, 2020. We also urge all KCSF affiliate members and other similar groups, associates and partners to join the strike to demand with immediate effect, the reversal of the new price regimes of both electricity and fuel.’’
