Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has assured passengers plying the Abuja-Kaduna rail line route that more trains would be added soon.
Rotimi Amaechi on Thursday said this as he was taking delivery of trains in China.
He said that the trains built by a Chinese firm, CRRC include two-motored cars and four locomotive trains, noting that the trains would soon be in Nigeria.
Speaking on the distribution of the trains, the minister said, the trains would service the Abuja-Kaduna and Lagos-Ibadan rail lines.
According to him, “Yesterday (Wednesday), I test-ran and took delivery of more trains in China to service the Abuja-Kaduna and Lagos-Ibadan rail lines. For those complaining that the trains are not enough, especially for the Abuja-Kaduna route, we heard your cries, the trains are coming!
”The 1st batch of the new trains built for us by CRRC- two motored cars and four Locomotives. I have taken delivery and they would soon be in Nigeria. Work is ongoing on the 2nd batch of trains. The plan is to connect and unite the entire country by rail.”
