Police Bow To Pressure , Set Up Committee To Probe Alleged Shooting Of 4 Persons By Its Personnel In Kano
Kano Police Command on Wednesday set up an investigative committee to probe alleged shooting of four persons by the Police at Ado Bayero Shopping Mall on Sunday 17th June 2018.
The Commissioner of Police Rabiu Yusuf gave the committee headed by ACP Naziru Bello Kankarofi in Charge of IGP X-Squard Kano East three terms of reference.
Solacebase had earlier exclusively reported the alleged shooting of 4 persons at the Ado Bayero Shopping Mall on Sunday 17th June 2018 by the Police.
However the Police had denied occurence of the incident in a statement signed by the spokesman of the command
A statement signed by the command spokesman SP Magaji Musa Majia said the committee is to ascertain what actually happened during the stampede,Identify the victims if any and clarify the nature of injuries sustained (whether gunshot injuries or otherwise).
It said the decision to set up the committee is due to the outcry of the public and the online media report.
It said the team has 4 days to submit its report and recommendations to the Commissioner of Police for further necessary action.
It assured members of the public to be rest assured that, justice would prevail.
