Professorial Appointment Crisis: American University apologizes to Ganduje
East Carolina University, the United States of America on Tuesday expressed regret over any embarrassment that might have resulted from the recent controversy regarding the appointment of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state to the position of Senior Mentoring Scholar and Visiting Full Professor of e-governance and International Affairs on November 30, 2020.
A letter titled Re: unavailability of University Appointment and signed by B. Grants Hayes Ph.D, Interim Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor, for Academic Affairs dated December 8th expressed regret as that was not the intention of East Carolina University and the letter forwarded to the governor.
Solacebase reports that Kano State Government through a letter written by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji demanded an apology from the university over the embarrassment the withdrawal of professorial appointment has caused the governor and the state.
