Quackery: Kano shuts down private health facility

Kano State Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) has raided and shut down a private clinic, called Al-ziyadah clinic, over alleged quackery.

Solacebase reports that the clinic is  located at Naibawa opposite’Yan katako, Zaria road , Kumbotso local government area of Kano State.

PHIMA Executive Secretary, Dr. Usman Tijjani Aliyu confirmed the development to Solacebase on Thursday.

He said the closure was sequel to complaints and report involving gross misconduct and mismanagement of patients with history of substance abuse in the clinic.

‘’The clinic was found to be  managing patients with substance abuse which is beyond  the  registration status of  the clinic and this led to serious complications on the affected  patients .’’

‘’The patients were  eventually admitted at a higher facilities for proper care,’’ said Dr. Usman Aliyu.

According to the agency Executive Secretary, the action of the clinic by the law and guidelines  establishing PHIMA is quackery.

‘’As such, the clinic will remain closed while investigation of the case will continue  with the culprits in accordance with the law and guidelines of the agency  so as to serve as a  detriment to others.
