Sardauna of Ilorin, Aminu Saro dies, Emir mourns

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has expressed sadness over the death of the Sardauna of Ilorin, Alhaji Umar Aminu Saro.

The Emir described the death of the Lagos based business mogul, as a great loss to humanity.

Solacebase reports that Alhaji Umar Aminu Saro, the Ilorin-born billionaire, industrialist and philanthropist died on Sunday, in Lagos after a brief illness.

The monarch in a condolence message signed by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, described the late Sardauna of Ilorin as a strong pillar and advocate of the principle of equity, fairness and justice as well as grassroots developer.

According to the statement, “Late Umar Saro was a successful business magnate, community leader, philanthropist and Chieftaincy titleholder in the Ilorin emirate.

“Umar Saro’s death has marked the end of an era. He was generous to a fault and his contributions to human capital development and empowerment of the less privileged cannot be overemphasized.

“I am deeply hurt and pained by his death. I commiserate with his immediate and extended families over the irreparable loss. May Almighty Allah accepts his good deeds, forgive his shortcomings and grant him Al-janatul firdaos”, the Emir said in the statement.
