Suspected armed bandits kill woman, injure her children in Kano

Suspected armed robbers have killed a woman at her residence located in Unguwar Kadawa in Kano.

The assailants, who killed the woman simply identified as Rukayya, also injured her two children.

However, no one seems to know the exact time the incident happened, but it is believed that the assailants gained access into the house after Magrib prayer on Saturday.

According to the BBC Hausa, residents of the area said there are construction workers bordering the house as well as provision shops. They said they neither saw any person entering the house nor coming out of it.

The dastardly act was only known after her husband returned home. It is suspected that the woman was hit with a pestle on the head in two places.

Her son was also hit with the pestle, while bruises were seen on the face of the baby she was suckling.

The husband could not speak because he was still in shock.

At the moment there is nobody in the house, while mourning takes place at the house of the deceased’s parents in Unguwar Madatai in Kano metropolis.

The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the incident, noting that investigation has already commenced.

Spokesman of the Kano police, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said five suspects have also been arrested.
