Tension in Kano as Emirs Sanusi, Bayero reportedly plan to observe Friday prayer at Palace Jumu’at mosque

The reinstated Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II is allegedly expected to lead the two rakat Friday prayers today at the Emir’s palace Friday mosque.

This was announced in a statement signed by Danburan Kano, on Thursday.

SolaceBase had reported that since the reinstatement of Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano and the dethronement of Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero with the dissolution of the five emirates last Thursday by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after the signing of the new Kano Emirate Law 2024, there has been conflicting court orders.

A court order issued by a federal high court sitting in Kano had stopped the reinstatement with another from a state high court restraining Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero from parading as Emir of Kano and his eviction from his mini-palace close to the government house.

Subsequently, another court order restrained Malam Muhammadu Sanusi from parading as Emir of Kano and ordered his eviction from the emir’s palace while another court stopped the action

With these conflicting court orders, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kayode Ariwoola summoned the head of the federal high court and Kano Chief Judge.

The statement issued by Danburan Kano invites residents to come and listen to the sermon to be delivered by Malam Sanusi II.

Similarly, another statement allegedly from an aide of the deposed Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero invites residents to join him at the emir’s palace Friday mosque to observe the Jumu’at prayer.

It stated that the movement to the emir’s palace mosque starts at 12.30 pm.

However, the police authorities are yet to comment on the development to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
