I had today’s Friday prayers at a mosque on Zoo Road, Kano, where the Imam, Mallam Abdullahi Sadiq was all lashing. He expressed his anger with fury, and by extension the anger of Allah on anyone that fails to submit unconditionally to the will of Allah, the creator.
The sermon centered on the superiority of the Human race, this generation of the Human race, the race of the last prophet of Islam, prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
In the sermon, which came with emphasis on the need for all to surrender to Allah in order for us to get out of the present distress and disaster in Nigeria, Imam Abdullahi Nafu lashed at everyone, particularly our leaders, whom he hit hard, including my hero, President Muhammadu Buhari.
Reciting from surat Aal Imraan, Imam Abdullahi’s sermon began thus, Qullil lahumma Malikal Mulki tu’til mulka man tashaaa’u wa tanzi’ulmulka mimman tashhaaa’u wa tu’izzu man tashaaa’u wa tuzillu mantaashau,biyadikal khairi,innaka Alakulli shein qadeer.
The meaning is, O Allah! the Sovereign-Lord of all dominion: You grant dominion to whom You will and take dominion away from whom You will. You exalt whom You will and abase whom You will. In Your hand is all that is good. You are able to do all things. You cause the night to pass into the day, and You cause the day to pass into the night. You bring forth the living from the dead, and You bring forth the dead from that which is alive. You grant sustenance to whom You will, beyond all reckoning.

He made it clear that Mankind owes an obligation to glorify Allah, as there is none worthy of glorification and exaltation except Him. And that’s where he accused Nigeria’s leadership, by allowing some followers to misguide them through fake glorification.
He said God loves this generation of Mankind in a special way, that’s why he placed them over an above all creations. And whoever treats them with contempt, would surely earn the wrath of Allah, leaders inclusive.
Making reference to the insecurity bedevilling the northern part of the country, alongside what he called “the near non nonchalant attitude of the Government”, by giving more priority to votes instead of lives, he faulted a situation where countless security agents were deployed to Anambra State for the gubernatorial elections, but the Government failed to confront banditry with similar, or greater security might.
Mallam Abdullahi rounded up his sermon by touching on another hero of mine, this time around, positively.

Describing him as the Governor of Governors, one Governor that exceeds many Governors put together, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State he said, deserves to be hailed by all. He commended Governor Zulum for the recent gesture he extended to pensioners in Borno State, by setting aside billions in naira to settle their outstanding.
Mallam Abdullahi said if it were constitutionally possible for Governors to swap State, the entire pensioners of Kano would call for the transfer of Governor Zulum to their State. And almost the entire congregation in the mosque gave a head nod of approval.
A friend and media colleague of mine, Yakubu Ahmed BK, once described Professor Umara Babagana Zulum as, “the fire-eating, no-nonsense, daring and fearless Governor of Borno state. From day one of his assumption, the man left no one in any doubt, that a new national hero – the kind Nigerians have, for decades been looking for, has been birthed”
Yakubu Ahmed BK made the above assertion on paper long ago. And now, an Imam has come to support and justify it on the pulpit today, with stimulating sermon on submissive surrender.
