Two Kano based online newspapers “Kano Today” and “Daily Focus” have announced their merger on Thursday.
A statement jointly signed by the publishers of the papers, Maude Rabiu Gwadabe (Kano Today) and Nazifi Dawud (Daily Focus) said the two entities have now become “Kano Focus”.
The merger is to provide a credible and viable medium for investigative journalism on issues and events on Kano state.
The statement obtained by Solacebase on Thursday indicates that Kano Focus is jointly owned by Maude Rabiu Gwadabe, Nazifi Dawud and Mukhtar Yahaya Usman.
Maude Rabiu Gwadabe has a PhD in Mass Communication with more than a decade of experience in journalism.
He started his career at Triumph newspapers before joining Freedom radio as a reporter and rose to head of news.
He has also worked with BBC Hausa service before he joined Bayero University, Kano where he taught journalism for some years before he set up Kano Today.
Nazifi Dawud is a graduate of Mass Communication, he worked with Daily Trust for seven years before he voluntary resigned and established the Daily Focus online Newspaper.
Mukhtar Yahaya Usman is a graduate of international relations from Northwest University and has a Master’s degree in International relations and diplomacy from Bayero University, Kano.
He is the head of international desk at the Freedom radio Kano.
