Two killed as kidnappers abduct 10 FRSC officials

Kidnappers on Monday attacked two buses of Federal Road Safety Corps officials at Wudage junction, Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, killing two officials and abducting 10 others.

The Corps Public Education Officer, ACM Bisi Kazeem, confirmed the incident, to Journalists on Monday. noting that one officer died during the attack while the second person died in the hospital, adding that the 10 missing operatives were believed to have been kidnapped.

He said the personnel were travelling from Sokoto and Kebbi states to a location in the South-East.

He noted that the deceased and the injured officials have been evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, Nasarawa State.

The spokesman, in the statement said the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, has ordered that the incident should be immediately reported to relevant authorities for prompt rescue of the victims, while investigations into the incident have commenced.

According to the statement,“The officers totalling 26 in number were travelling in two buses. One of the officers in the vehicle conveying the staff of the Corps reportedly died during the attack while another officer died in the hospital and four others were injured, 8 escaped unhurt, ten unaccounted for as they were allegedly kidnapped by the assailants.”

The statement said the Corps Marshal urged the staff not to be deterred by the unfortunate incident, assuring that the abducted officials would be rescued.

The Corps Marshal in the statement assured that “the Corps will work closely with relevant security agencies to ensure that the criminal elements are brought to book and justice is served while the missing personnel are found”.
