UPDATED: Kano assembly violates court order, recommends sacking of Muhuyi Magaji

Despite a court order, Kano State House of Assembly on Monday at its sitting recommended to Gov. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to sack the suspended Chairman of the state anti-corruption agency, Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado.

Solacebase reports that a Kano High Court presided by Justice Sanusi Ado Ma’aji had restrained the state assembly from taking any further action in the ongoing house investigation on the plaintiff, Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado.

The court directed that the assembly and the other defendants in the suit be served through the state Attorney General who is also a defendant in the case.

However, Solacebase gathered that the assembly despite heavy rainfall earlier on Monday instructed the security agents at the gate not to allow anybody to serve any court order on it.

At the sitting presided by the House Speaker, Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, passed five resolutions on the issue.

Addressing journalists shortly after plenary, the Majority Leader, Labaran Abdul Madari said the House committee investigating the case against the suspended Chairman, was given two weeks to conduct its finding which it has done and report submitted.

Madari said the report of the committee was accepted after debate on the floor and the house-made use of section 6 of the anti-corruption law 2010 that empowers the it to recommend to the governor the sacking of the suspended chairman.

He said the second resolution was for the state police commissioner to arrest the suspended Chairman for presenting fake medical report to the house and prosecute him

‘’ The accountant employed by the suspended chairman that is on grade level 4 should be dealt with in accordance with civil service rule,’’ said the majority leader.

‘’The fourth resolution was that the rejected accountant posted to the commission by the state accountant general should resume work at the commission’’

The majority leader also said an ad-hoc committee has been instituted under the chairmanship of the deputy speaker, Zubairu Hamza Massu to probe the financial activities of the commission since 2015 to date and submit report within three months.

Meanwhile, Kano State Police Command has invited Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado over two petitions against him.

The petitions, according to sources emanated from the state assembly over issue bothering on forgery and another from the Accountant General of the State.

Sources informed Solacebase that as at the time of filing this report, Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado is at the state police headquarters to honour the invitation extended to him over the petitions.
