Tricycle operators in Kano State on Monday embarked on a warning strike with the withdrawal of their services over the failure of the state government to suspend collections of N100 as daily tax.
Solacebase reports that Tricycle operators had last week threatened to commence the strike on Monday after several protests despite the Police assurance to the citizens that the strike would not take place.
On Monday morning, commuters were seen trekking long distances with the absence of the Tricycle operators, popularly called ”Adaidata Sahu” on the major roads.
Also, some secondary school students on Airport road in the metropolis embarked on a peaceful procession that were later dispersed by a team of policemen led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police.
According to the students, they were protesting KAROTA’s action of the N100 tax on tricycle operators that led to the strike.
