Voters apathy for Jalingo rerun election

The Saturday’s rerun election for Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency of Taraba, witnessed voters’ apathy as only a handful voters turned out to cast their votes.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that although officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the election materials arrived at most polling units as early as 6.30 a.m., voters were absent, leaving the polling units empty.

At the Amazon Polling Unit 019 Turaki Ward, only election officials and security agencies were seen waiting for the voters to arrive.

The situation was not much different at the Sabongari polling unit 014 Turaki Ward, as only handful voters were seeing undergoing accreditation.

Mr James Igun, the Presiding Officer at the Amazon Polling Unit told NAN that he was hopeful that the situation would improve later in the day.(NAN)
