World AIDS Day: Kano Establishes Over 640 Free Test Centres- SACA
Kano State Government says it has established over 640 HIV/AIDS test centres across the 44 local government areas.
Director-General, Kano State Agency for the Control of Aids, Dr Sabitu Shuaibu Shanono stated this in an interview with Solacebase on Monday the sideline of the celebration of World Aids day, marks annually on December, 1st.
Dr Sabitu Shuaibu Shanono said the test centres are equipped with test kits and other health commodities accorded people free.
The SACA boss also said HIV/AIDS prevalence has drastically reduced in Kano from 2.5% in 2017 to 0.5% in 2018 health survey.

He explained that to create much access to anti-retroviral drugs to people living with HIV, the state government has established 40 comprehensive centres rural areas inclusive with additional 50 centres for pregnant women.
Dr Sabitu Shanono said as part of activities making the day was the walk around the town organized by the agency to raise awareness among the people to eradicate stigmatization of people living with HIV/AIDS and the need to voluntarily go for test.
