World Bank, Kano to construct 6,300 km rural roads

Kano state Government in collaboration with World Bank and French Development Agency have set to construct 6,300 kilometers of rural roads across the state.

The Director General, Kano State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), Yahaya Adamu Garin Ali, announced this while declaring open a 5 days training of 152 enumerators on Data Collection, Strategies and Recording of RAAMP Roads features in the state.

A statement issued by Adamu Abdullahi,  Development Communication Specialist, RAAMP Project, on Tuesday said Garin Ali, reiterated the government’s commitment towards improving access roads and agricultural infrastructural development in the state.

‘’The DG, therefore, urged the participants to consider the assignment as their contribution to the state which requires ardent dedication and commitment to commiserate with efforts of the state government on improving the lives of the citizenry, ‘’the statement reiterated.

‘’On part the State project Coordinator, Engr. Sunusi Sale Suleiman, described the training as a fulfillment of the requirements by the World Bank to operationalized the use of Nigeria Rural Transport Infrastructure Management System (NiRTMS) software designed to help monitor progress of work during construction.’’

‘’Engr. Suleiman further explained that the aim of the training was to teach the enumerators the function of the NiRTMS using the software application to track rural roads network as well as record engineering, environmental and social features including schools, mosques, markets, settlements and farmland among others.’’
