Gov. Yusuf supports indigent cancer patient treatment with N1.5m

A patient at the National Orthopedic Hospital Dala, Asmau Sani diagnosed with cancer of the right tibia, has received financial support from Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for her chemotherapy and related medical treatments.

The Governor announced a donation of N1.5 million on his verified Facebook page on Sunday, after visiting Asma’u and other patients at the hospital.

Eight-year-old Asmau Sani, who was advised to undergo amputation for her right leg due to her condition, was in a state of despair with her indigent mother, who had lost hope of affording the medical expenses.

SOLACEBASE gathered that her plight was brought to the attention of Fauziyya D Sulaiman, Senior Special Assistant on Needy and Vulnerable to Kano State Governor, by a passerby who saw them at the hospital premises.

Governor Yusuf expressed concern over Asma’u and other patients in need, stating that :

“Asmau Sani’s case caught my attention on social media, and I took time today to visit her and other patients at the National Orthopedic Hospital, Dala.”

He also assured that his administration would closely monitor Asma’u’s progress and that the health and well-being of patients in the state are a top priority.

The Governor’s gesture has been widely applauded by the public, who commended his commitment to philanthropy and healthcare accessibility.
