After renowned Cleric resignation, Kano Assembly stops construction of corner shops at Juma’at mosque
Kano State House of Assembly has directed for the immediate stoppage of any physical structures in the name of corner shops and any other structures within the premises of Juma’at Mosque, in Fagge.
The directive was given at its plenary session on Tuesday presided by the Speaker, Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari
This follows a motion of matters of urgent public interest moved by a member representing Dala Constituency, Lawan Hussaini Chediyar’Yan gurasa, calling on the House to order for the immediate stoppage of any physical structures within the perimeters walls of the mosque.
He expressed sadness over the construction of corner shops on the premises of the mosque and the need to stop it in the interest of the Public.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Assembly Director, Public Affairs, Uba Abdullahi on Tuesday.

Solacebase had reported on Monday, that renowned Kano based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Tijjani Bala Kalarawi has resigned his appointment as member committee of trustees of Abdullahi Bayero Juma’at Mosque, Fagge.
Sheikh Tijjani Kalarawi stated this on Monday, on a local radio program in Kano, monitored by Solacebase.
Kalarawi said that it became pertinent for him to resign his membership of the trustee committee because of the indiscriminate buildings and land allocation within the mosque perimeters.
The lawmaker said that this is a sheer disregard for the sanctity of God’s worshipping domain.
The motion attracted series of discussion and support from the Honourable members.
However, the House constituted a nine man Committee to critically look into the issue from its roots and report back within two weeks as announced by the Speaker , Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari.
Members of the committee are;Hon. Muhd Uba Gurjiya Member representing Bunkure Constituency as Chairman, Hon. Sunusi Usman Bataiya Member,Hon. Magaji Dahiru Zarewa Member,Hon. Nuhu Abdullahi Achika Member,Hon. Lawan Hussaini Chediyar’Yan gurasa Member,Hon. Abubakar Dalladi Isa Kademi Member,Hon. Muhd Tukur Member and Hon. Sale Ahmed Marke while Deputy Director Legal Services would serve as Secretary.
