Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has launched an investigation in collaboration with the Independent Corruption Practices and Other Related offences Commission (ICPC) into the distribution of relief materials by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and IDPs in the state.

The Executive Chairman, Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, announced this while receiving the new Commissioner of Kano Zonal office of Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, Barrister Ibrahim Kagara, on a courtesy visit in his office.

Muhuyi Magaji said the relief materials from the commission delivered to Kano are of 16 items to be distributed to 1,500 household to ameliorate their suffering, however, the situation is on the contrary as it was discovered that the materials have allegedly been tampered with.

‘’ The relief materials to be distributed to the beneficiaries were supposed to be 16 items meant for 1,500 households after the delivery of the materials, we discovered that the items were not complete as preliminary investigation indicated that they have been tampered with, ‘’said a statement issued by the Commission Media Consultant, Nura Ahmed.

‘’Preliminary investigation has shown that the items have been tampered with, hence we requested the attention of the Refugees Commission headed by, Senator Basheer Garba Mohammed Lado, but until this moment we are yet to hear from them. Though it is a federal government agency, with our collaboration with ICPC and the law establishing the state anti-corruption agency, we would ensure that nobody is shortchanged in the issue.’’

The statement issued on Wednesday said, Barr. Muhuyi Magaji described the collaboration with ICPC as very germane as this will assist the state Anti-Graft Agency to discharge its duties more effectively.
