The Kaduna division of the Court of Appeal on Friday nullified the election of Abdulmuminin Jubril, of All Progressive Congress, (APC)representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The court then ordered INEC to conduct a fresh election within 60 days between Ali Datti of the PDP and Abdulmuminin Jubril of the APC in Kano. Solacebase reports that the judgement was read by Justice Ajoke Adepoju.
Solacebase recalled that the National and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Kano on September 5, 2019, had upheld Abdulmuminin Jubril electoral victory.
The three-man tribunal led by Hon. Justice Nayai Aganaba had dismissed the petition filed by PDP and its candidate, Aliyu Datti Yako, on grounds of over-voting and other electoral malpractices, saying the petitioners have failed to prove their allegations beyond a reasonable doubt.

A statement signed by APC Chairman Bebeji local government area of Kano state, Alhaji Sulaiman Sabo Gwarmai on 30th July, said the suspension was premise on the adoption of the committee report on anti-party activities of Abdul Muminu Jibrin Kofar contrary to some provisions of the party’s constitution.
According to the release,’’ ranging from article 21, paragraph A (ii) (v) and (vii) the executive committee adopted the report and hereby suspend Abdul Muminu Jibrin Kofar for 12 months.’’
The statement said the executive committee also adopted the committee’s recommendation urging the state executive committee to recommend to the national executive the immediate expulsion of the lawmaker from the party for various offenses.
‘’The offenses which were also found to be contrary to article 21. Paragraph A(ii) (v) and (xi) of the party constitution, ’the statement said.
