The Saudi Supreme Court has announced after the Dhul Hijjah moon is sighted today on Saturday August 11, corresponding to 29th of Dhulka’edah 1439 AH , that Eid al Adha ( Eid El Kabir) will be celebrated on Tuesday August 21, 2018 whereas Youme Arafat (also known as Youme Arafah), will be on Monday August 20, 2018.
The Eid Al Adha holiday will last for 11 days in Saudi this year.
Eid al Adha is celebrated on 10th of Dhul Hijjah and the first day of Haj ritual – Youme Arafah, the standing on the Plains of Arafat is held on a day before on 9th of Dhul Hijjah.
Solacebase however reports that the federal government is yet to declare Eid El Kabir public holiday.
