Angered by what it sees as acts of maladministration by the management of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE), has given the commission a 21-day ultimatum to reverse its anti-worker policies or risk industrial action.

The notice to that effect was signed by Comrade Musa Ukpo, General Secretary of AUPCTRE, a copy of which was made available to Solacebase in Abuja on Tuesday.

AUPCTRE threatened to embark on industrial action against CAC if the unhealthy practices meted on the staff were not properly addressed within 21 days of the notice.

The Union, among other issues, accused CAC management of unilaterally restricting staff vacancies against the recommendations of the committee on the commission’s organogram, and particularly expressed disgust at the “unjustified barring of certain categories of staff from writing promotion examination”.

It also accused management of stopping all staff loans, hasty, draconian and unilateral decision making leadership style, and denial of 2019 promotion to deserving workers.

It also accused management of stopping salaries of workers even before queries were issued, at the peak of COVID-19 pandemic.

“In discharging our responsibilities as a Trade Union guided by the principles of collective bargaining, due process and strict adherence to the Union and constitution of Nigeria, AUPCTRE hereby issues a 21-day ultimatum to CAC management, effective from December 21, 2020, to address all the issues raised.

“Management should treat this ultimate as urgent in order to douse the already tensed industrial relations atmosphere and possibly avert looming industrial crisis,” the letter warned.
