Videos: Azman Airline Abandons 30 Passengers With Boarding Pass At Kano Airport

There was vituperation and anger early on Saturday at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) when Azman Airline Flight en route  Lagos abandoned about 30  passengers with the boarding pass as some of them had even checked in their luggage.

Solacebase gathered that the 7.30 am flight was overbooked.

The passengers who were visibly worried, threaten legal actions as some of them said the essence of their traveling has been defeated.

A passenger, Gbolagade Azeez with seat number 8F and flight number ZQ 2310 said he was in Kano for the annual general meeting of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and has a scheduled program in Lagos for 11.00 am on Saturday which is of serious importance to him.

‘’It’s so sad that I got to the airport at 6.30 am because the flight departure time was 7.30 am. Incidentally, I checked in my luggage and given a boarding pass with my thinking already in Lagos.

‘’Honestly, I don’t know what to do right now as the incident has disorganized my schedule.’’

Also another passenger, Sani Bala Sani who was visibly angry said he got to the airport at 6.20 am while he bought and booked his flight over three days ago.

‘’Look at this situation I have a very important assignment to attend to in Lagos by 11.30 am this morning, only for me to be informed by Azman Airline that the plane is already full.’’

‘’I booked online and even selected a seat, so I am wondering who is occupying my seat.’’

‘’Honestly, I will sue the airline for what they have done to me’’

Idris Muhammad Murtala in an interview with Solacebase said the airline cannot compensate him to address what he has missed as he was on his way to Lagos to attend his immediate sister’s wedding while Olawale Ganiyu is expected to connect a flight out of the country by 12.00 noon today

A staff of Azman Airline that craved anonymity said it was a problem they had yesterday night around 9.00 pm as the plane that night stopped has a passenger capacity of 124 while they were expecting a plane with 148 capacity.

Although the staff of the airline was seen pacifying the passengers to no avail.

Coincidentally, Solacebase reports that International Civil Aviation Day is celebrated on 7 December  annually to raise awareness about the importance of the role of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), a UN body that takes care of international standards for aviation safety and protection of passengers’ rights

When asked about the solution to the situation, he said they were ready to rescheduled flights for those that are still willing to travel while others will be accorded 25% discount whenever they feel like making use of their ticket.
