”Be transparent in your N6bn Ramadan feeding scheme”-APC challenges Kano gov

By Muhammad Muhammad

The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday asked the Kano state government to account for the sum of N6 billion disbursed for the annual Ramadan feeding programs in the state.

SOLACEBASE reports that Kano APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas made the demand on Saturday while flagging off the distribution of palliatives to party members across 484 political wards in the state.

Abbas who described the entire feeding program of the state government as organized scam, insisted the NNPP administration has failed the credibility test entrusted by Kano people.

According to the APC Chairman, instead of dispensing the state resources judiciously as promised, Abbas alleged that Kano government is relying on Dangote and BUA foundations’ palliatives to be distributed in the state.

The opposition’s task for accountability comes less than 24 hours after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed dissatisfaction on the kind of arrangements ensued by the feeding organizing committee.

” We challenge Governor Abba to explain how the N6 billion public fund is being disbursed on the so-called Ramadan Feeding. We challenge the government to show the world proof of this spending because Kano people no longer trust the government.

” We have the conviction that the entire feeding is an arranged scam. Besides spending a huge amount on feeding that cannot be justified, the government is still begging Dangote and BUA for palliatives. This is the same government that received funds from the federal government solely for palliatives”. Abbas said.

According to Garba, each political ward is allotted 10 bags of rice(50kg), 5 bags of millet (100kg), and 100 cartoons of Spaghetti.
