Kano health management boss kicks over medical staff absence from duties

The Executive Secretary of Kano State Hospitals Management Board, Mansur Mudi Nagoda has expressed total disappointment over absence of medical staff from duties. 

Dr Nagoda, who visited Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Sheik Muhammed Jidda General Hospital and Abubakar Imam Urology Centre on Friday night found unpleasant issues in the facilities.

According to a statement by Samira Suleiman, spokesperson of the state’s hospital management, Urology Centre with over 320 staff was completely a ghost town during Nagoda’s visit.

“Pharmacy, A/E, and lab were all closed. In Murtala Muhammad, PCV faulty, blood banking faulty, no auto analyser chemistry and haematology.”

He also met Sheik Muhammed Jidda General Hospital in a sorry state with no doctor at all. 

“We all acknowledged the receipt of capitation from KSCHMA this week to the tune of 88 m shared to HMB facilities. We are not compelling anyone to abide by the regulations, but it is a proclaimed and ordained policy that 70% should be for procurement of drugs from DMA, while 30% for improving the services of the facility and 10% cash payments”

Dr. Nagoda made a new rule of engagement that there must be 100%  assurance of the quality of service delivery.

“I assure you that by next month, your capitation will be withheld till we are satisfied with the service delivery in all your facilities. The executive team will not be complacent on this.

Supervision will be intensified till we achieve the desired goals. Be rest assured that executive supervision will not be relented,” he said.
