Buhari Led Administration Is Highly Corrupt- Datti Ahmed

A public commentator and founder of Baze University Dr. Datti Baba Ahmed has accused the President Buhari led administration of trivializing the fight against corruption and non-committal to end the menace.

Dr. Datti Baba Ahmed alleged that two main areas of practically fighting corruption which the present administration is still guilty of are inflated government contract and influence peddling to access foreign exchange.

The renowned politician who is a presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) who alleged that the Buhari led administration is highly corrupt stated this in Kano over the weekend while speaking to a group of Journalists on the state of the nation.

“ Ninety percent of Nigeria’s budget goes on inflated contract and this is visible when you subject the budgets to forensic examination. Has the Buhari led administration done anything about this? No. When you look at the foreign exchange rate, the multiple exchange rate introduced by the government was to create opportunity for some clique to make more at the expense of the nation as no reasonable Economist will advise you to do that, “said Datti Ahmed.

Datti who was a House of representatives member and former Senator that sponsored the bill to end inflated government contract  in 2004 said accused the present administration of being enmeshed in the menace

He said the prosecution of PDP members  alleged to have used the over $2billion arms deals to finance the 2015 general elections would have being highly transparent if the Buhari led administration will evaluate publicly the finance of the APC in the elections that saw the President as the winner of the poll.

“ I am not against prosecution of  anybody with corruption cases but it should not be like a vendetta or persecution of political foes but rather holistically so that it will serve as deterrent to others”

“ You can imagine that despite so many petitions against former Rivers state governor and the present Minister of Transport , Rotimi Ameachi before the EFCC , nothing is happening to him. Could this be due to his financial contribution to the APC during the poll just like the former Lagos state governor Babatunde Fashola who is heading three powerful ministries?”

“ A government fighting corruption with sincerity of purpose will start internally with those in the administration so that others will know how serious it is and there will be no sacred cow, “ said Dr. Datti.

The presidential hopeful of the PDP said his desire to contest for the number one seat of the nation was borne out of the fear of what may become of Nigeria if Buhari should continue in 2019 considering the economic hardship an average Nigerian is facing, high security challenges and the populace losing confidence in government, with all these there may be anarchy when there is chaos.

When asked how he intends to deal with security challenges, Datti Ahmed said with all sense of responsibility, “ I  will never play politics with the issue of security as this constitutes to the problem we are presently facing”. I am not going to lie to get to office but rather get briefing first with the DSS,NIA and other security apparatus to know exact situation so as to squarely deal with the issue.

Dr. Datti Baba Ahmed promised to give some strategic products that can galvanize the economy priority to address poverty holistically such as petroleum products as government will no longer owned refineries but privatize for it to be well managed , reducing multiple taxes, increase fertilizer , cement and steel production for agriculture development and building and construction.
