BUK denies robbery attack on campus
Bayero University Kano has denied robbery incidents in students’ hostels as claimed by some sections of the media.
Solacebase reports that there were some media reports early this week that armed robbers invaded students hostels and carted valuable items.
However, a statement issued on Friday by BUK Director of Security, Abdulyakin Ibrahim said there was no robbery incident on the University campus, faulting the media reports as false and malicious.
Although Solacebase gathered that female Medical student’s hostels at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital was robbed in the dead of night over the week.
Some of the students who spoke to Solacebase said it was not the first time that they are experiencing the security situation as the hostel is manned by female securities.
‘’BUK is one of the most peaceful and better Universities to live in Nigeria with effective and efficient security architecture protecting the lives and property of members of the University community,’’ said the statement.
‘’The Director said all the hostels have enough security personnel and there is an effective surveillance mechanism put in place, urging the public to disregard the earlier media report which he said is baseless.’’
