A Lecturer in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Bayero University, Dr Auwal Bala Abubakar has won the University of Chulalongkorn, Thailand’s Highest Journal Citation Report (JCR).
He won the award after his PhD dissertation in Mathematical Science emerged the overall best in the whole of Thailand.
Solacebase reports that the Journal Citation Report (JCR) is usually awarded by the Professor Dr Tab Nilanidhi Foundation, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand to a PhD student with the best dissertation in the Mathematics category.
According to the university bulletin, a letter from the Department of Mathematical Sciences dated 9 February 2021 and addressed to the Acting Registrar, Malam Jamil Salim, said the awardee, Dr Auwal Bala Abubakar was a lecturer in the department and recently completed his PhD programme at the University of Chulalongkorn, Thailand.
‘’While undergoing the programme, Auwal’s hard work, dedication, perseverance and research prowess earned him the award having emerged as the student with the best dissertation in the Mathematics programme throughout Thailand,’’ said the letter.

‘’The statement added that in addition to winning the Award, Dr Auwal was also presented with a cheque of 30,000 Baht which is equivalent of 382,987.29 Naira.’’
