Centre Organizes International Workshop On Sukuk, Non-Interest Banking In Dubai

The International Centre for Islamic Culture and Education (ICICE), Abuja, will conduct an International Workshop in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on the fundamental principles of Sukuk Structuring (including Islamic Treasury Bills) and other Non-Interest Capital Market Products, Islamic Banking and Insurance for key operators and relevant stakeholders in the Nigerian finance industry.

A Statement from the Office of the Director General of the Centre, Dr Kabir Kabo Usman, says consequent of the momentum gained by the Non-Interest Finance sector in the Global Finance Industry and with the licensing of Non – Interest Banks, Takaful Companies, Asset Management Firms in Nigeria, the Osun State Sukuk and the Federal Government Sovereign Sukuk Insurance of September 2017, it is desirable for the key players in the sector to be further trained on the basics of Sukuk Structuring.

 The statement signed by Abdulkadir Ahmed Ibrahim S.A. (Media and     Publicity) to Dr Kabir Kabo Usman explained that as the sector is recording Non – Interest equity index and Non – Interest Exchange Traded Fund with huge potentials, these positive developments cannot be sustained without Sukuk and other Non-Interest liquidity management instruments.

 According to the Statement, the International Workshop scheduled to hold from November 19 to 23, 2018, will include a study tour to Projects funded with Sukuk in the United Arab Emirates and Interaction with Representatives of Islamic Banks and Takaful Companies.

 The Workshop is meant for Senior Management Staff of Financial Regulatory Agencies, Chief Executives and Heads of Departments of Commercial, Merchant and Islamic Banks and other Financial Institutions, Officials of State and Federal  Ministries of Finance, Works and Planning and Budget, Senior Legal Practitioners, Potential Sukuk Issuers, Academic, Religious Organizations and Finance Consultants.

 Top most Banker Alhaji Attahiru M.  Maccudo who is a Fellow of Institute of Finance Professionals of Nigeria, Fellow of Chartered Economists of Nigeria, Fellow of Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership (USA), and Dr Bashir Aliyu Umar, member of The International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), member of Financial Regulation Advisory Council of Experts and former Special Adviser on Islamic Banking and Finance to the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria will join other International Resource Persons in the Finance Sector as Facilitators at the Workshop.
