Citizens Summit: NIPR inaugurates northwest zonal planning committee

Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has inaugurated northwest zonal planning committee for Citizens Summit for National Integration , Peace and Security.

Solacebase reports that NIPR resolves to convene a Citizens Summit for National Integration , Peace and Security , aimed at providing a credible platform for initiating national cohesion , peace building and reconciliation in the country.

The northwest zonal chairman of the committee, Dr. Sule Ya’u Sule at the inauguration, on Thursday, said the summit became pertinent due to challenges facing the nation from banditry, terrorism, secessionist agenda, inter and intra ethnic conflicts and other form of criminality that have widen the trust gap, deepen disaffection and fueling misunderstanding among the various component unit of the nation.

He said the institute is taking it upon itself as PR practitioners towards ensuring the unity of the country and create mutual relationship among the citizens with the summit.

‘’Hence the submit planned to take place from the states, to the zones and the national level to collate and collect opinions of Nigerians from various divide on issues bothering them and the way out, ‘’said Dr. Sule.

He explained that the summit will start from the states level in September, the Zonal level in October and the National level in November.

According to him,‘’The opinions  and ideas collated after been sorted out will be presented to the presidency for over view and implementation as the government has expressed readiness to utilize views so collated that will address most of the challenges bedeviling the nation.

He said the pilot state for the summit in the northwest is Jigawa while Kano will hold the Zonal summit for North West, Gombe for North East, Niger for North Central, Lagos for South West, Enugu for South East and Rivers for South South.

In a remark,  Kano State NIPR Chairman, Malam Aminu Hamza appealed to the committee members to see the assignment as a call to national development in order to move the nation forward.

Solacebase reports that the members of the planning committee inaugurated are, all zonal State Chairmen, Kano State Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, Mal. Baffa Bura, Prof. Mustapha Malam, Malam Aminu Inuwa, Dr. Abubakar Minjibir, Mal. Abba Dangogo, Dr. Hajara Sanda, Hajia Habibat Abubakar, Mal. Abdulkareem Muhammad, Mal. Bashir Sarki, Mal. Habibu Kila , Mal. Usman Usman and Mal. Hisham Habib.

Others are Mal. Abdullateef Abubakar Jos, Mal. Nasir Tahir, NGE, NAWOJ, PCRC, NUJ, Security agencies, Representatives of Ethnic Communities in the zone, Council of Ulama, Representatives from Kano, Zazzau, Sokoto, Katsina, Dutse, Zamfara and Gwandu Emirates with representatives of selected media organization in Kano.

Reacting to the appointment, the Dean Faculty of Communication, Bayero University Kano, Prof. Mustapha Malam, assured that the committee members will not betray the confidence reposed in them.
