Court dismisses stay of execution suit by Kano Assembly over five suspended members

A federal high court sitting in Kano on Thursday dismissed a suit for a stay of execution of the reversal of suspension of five state assembly members.
The presiding Judge, Justice Lewis Allagoa ordered the plaintiffs to immediately obey the court ruling that quashed the suspension of the five lawmakers has and pronounced the outright dismissal of stay of execution order filed by the leadership of Kano state house of assembly.
Solacebase reports that the federal high court had on June 3rd delivered judgment reinstating five suspended Kano Assembly members with an order that their salaries and allowances be paid.
However, the Plaintiffs in the stay of execution suit, the Kano House of Assembly and the Speaker urged the court to grant their prayers which was rejected.

While speaking to newsmen shortly after the court dismissed the suit filed by the Assembly and the Speaker, the ex-majority leader, Labaran Abdul Madari from Warawa constituency, on behalf of his four other colleagues, said their confidence in the judiciary as the last hope of the common man was reaffirmed by the striking out the suit.
“We are now ready to resume back to the chamber to continue discharging our legislative mandates fully, anytime the house announces to reconvene,” Madari said
Solacebase recalled that the five embattled Kano state assembly lawmakers were suspended by the speaker, Abdulazzez Garba Gafasa on 16th March 2020 for alleged insubordination to the house leadership.
